DA MEN Mall in USJ, Subang Jaya in Selangor hosted a series of events in conjunction with World Mental Health Day.
It first held the Hope Mural Project, an art activation event to promote positive mental health strategies.
This was followed by The Kindness Rocks Project that gathered students, young children, parents, and the Subang Jaya community at the mall to paint a message of hope on rocks displayed at the atrium entrance on the ground floor.
Its most recent event was a treasure hunt jointly organized with Subang Jaya Municipal Council, the Zone 3 Residents Committee and SJ Care Warriors.
The Mental Health Day Hunt was aimed at empowering the community to build resilience through a wellness-oriented approach and train for early intervention as well as suicide prevention to help those in need to seek counseling.
Da Men Mall also hosted Dr. Lynda Ling, a registered and licensed counselor, who gave an inspiring talk on how to support individuals struggling with stress and depression.
The treasure hunt, launched by Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng, drew more than 50 participants comprising families and friends.
The hunt took two hours to complete as participants followed the clues to look for items in different shops in the mall to win prizes.
For their hard work, each participant received a goodie bag containing a multitude of vouchers.
First prize winners Chai Kho Khai and Kye Lii walked away with RM400 worth of cash vouchers, while second prize winners Foo Mei Lin and Rachel Cheong received RM350 in vouchers and third prize winners Richard Chuen and Alice Yap bagged RM300 in vouchers. All winners also received goodies worth up to RM1,300 in total.
The Mental Health Day programs are among Da Men Mall’s community-centric events held throughout the year.
